Some believe Maxi's are only a summer essential but I say they can also be worn during Winter
Just add some cute boots and a long sleeve shirt or cardigan and you are set! I really love my similar options listed below!! The necklace is on 10 bucks and the boots are in the twenty dollar range! Check them out!!
Shirt: Down East Basics, Maxi skirt: Nordstrom Rack, Necklace: Forever 21, and combat boots: Bin BonSimilar:
Another topic I want to touch on is body image! I feel like especially now
the pressure to be stick skinny is stronger than ever! Not that I am bashing on those that are
skinny I just think we should all love our bodies no matter what! It is good to eat healthy and
exercise, which I do but guess what I have curves! I used to despise them but honestly now I
truly love them! I have two daughters and I dont want them to grow up seeing their mom constantly
complaining about her body! I want them to see a mom that loves her body and curves! I want them
to be healthy and happy but being healthy doesn't always mean being a size 1! Again their is nothing
wrong with that! In fact, many of my cute blogger friends are very skinny and beautiful! Its all about loving
and working what you got! As for me I have curves!! So to my readers you are beautful! Dont bash
your body or skip meals! You are beautiful just the way you are! You can love fashion and be curvy! You dont need to be a model size to look good in clothes and photos! So I hope I expressed myself eloquently and you all get the point!! Hope you all are having a great day and thanks for reading!
xoxo,
Kendra
You look absolutely stunning Kendra! I agree with you, you should love your body no matter what! I have always been very skinny and tall, and kids would always call me "giraffe" in school. I would never let it bother me, it is just so sad how kids pick on each other like that. You gotta love what you have :)

Thank you so much!! You are too kind! Ugh I am so sorry! Bullying is such a big issue that needs to end! I worry for my girls! Also, I always look forward to your make up tips! I have been doing blue eyeshadow on my bottom lash line for days now!

What a great role model you are for your daughters!! They are lucky to have you as their mom :) I think it's SO important to love yourself and be healthy. Everyone's "healthy" looks different and it's wonderful when women can feel confident in their own skin. Your hair looks really pretty and I love your beautiful t :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I am sure you are as well! What a great point, everyone's healthy does look different! Thanks for the comment!

Both of your looks are gorgeous and I totally hear you on the self-acceptance. I agree there's a lot of pressure to look a certain way, and not all bodies are meant to look the same way, so it's kind of ridiculous. You seem like a beautiful person INSIDE and out. Thanks for sharing your looks and positive message with Manic Monday. :)

Thank you very much! That's so sweet of you!! You bring up a good point with everyone having different bodies and not having to all look the same! Thank you for always hosting! You are such a sweetie and always look gorg!!

I really like the color block on the skirt, and Amen to your last thought be happy with what you got or just make a healthier happier you...personally I love my curves wouldn't trade it for anything, well besides an easier way to find good fitting jeans.

You look amazing in both outfits, and I agree 100% with your message. I'm in no way shape or form a "model," (hello 5'1" and big bum) but that doesn't stop me from having a fashion blog. There's so many more of us out there with shape, and for good reason. Who wants to starve themselves thin any how?

Love the maxi, love the cute T-shirt and your post! Such a good reminder and so encouraging. It's so easy to get down on oneself these days.. especially with all the images of women you see in the media.

Thanks Shannon!! Thanks, yes I totally have my days where I get down on myself so I decided enough is enough!! I am loving what I got:)

Someone said once that everyone is self conscious about *some*thing on their body. So while I may be admiring their abs in a bikini, they're freaking out over their knobby knees. Or something like that. But the point is that I relate to your message about embracing what you have regardless!
ReplyDeleteI also agree that maxis are just as fun in the winter. And that beautiful tee is perfection!
Thanks for linking up!

Cute maxi dress! At first glance the colour blocking almost looks like layers, which I really like. Maxi's are perfect for winter, ain't nothing wrong with wearing them with a pair of leggings and boots :)

First of all, I couldn't agree more about the maxis - they are definitely for any time of the year! Second, I love that you are so comfortable in your own skin! I used to want to be skinny skinny, but I know that it just isn't in the cards for me (and still being healthy). So now I focus on being healthy and not skinny. Your girls are learning from one smart lady!

I love the idea of wearing a maxi in the winter. Thanks for the idea! Also, I agree one hundred percent with you and being accepting of our OWN body images. As I always tell my four year old, "Just worry about yourself." I wish we could all just do that instead of comparing! You are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jamie!! That is a great thing to tell your child!! You must be an awesome mom! Thank you:)!

Thank you so much for posting this. I have curves and I don't care. I follow tons of blogs, all of which surprisingly are thin, beautiful women. For a while, it was really intimidating, being a blogger that's curvy. I hated posting outfit posts because I felt like what I was wearing isn't as cute on me as it would be on all of these other skinny bloggers. I LOVE your blog and the fact that you post great outfits that can work on curvy girls. I'm SO SO glad I found your blog. It seriously lifts my spirits that there's other curvy bloggers out there.
